USI’s online RN to BSN offers a solid professional foundation to excel in your nursing career. Enrich your evidence-based nursing experience with knowledge that prepares you for roles in nursing leadership or graduate school.
Our online nursing program focuses on creative problem-solving and critical-thinking skills as well as strong communication abilities to equip you to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing health care delivery system. USI's superior nursing faculty have extensive clinical and nursing leadership experience. Courses will address current topics including global health, evidence-based practices and informatics to advance nursing practice.
Credit for Prior Learning Through Validation
Opportunities for validation of courses are available through current board certification, portfolio or University of Southern Indiana examination. Information about validation options will be provided in the first course.

The baccalaureate degree in nursing at the University of Southern Indiana is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. (http://www.ccneaccreditation.org/).
Our Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program is accredited by the Indiana State Board of Nursing.

*Total cost of the RN to BSN online program is for 30 credit hours of core nursing courses only. Tuition and fees are subject to change without notice by action of the Board of Trustees.
Any questions regarding tuition should be directed to the Bursar's Office. If you step out of the program, returning to the program may have different tuition and fees applied.

Financial Aid
The first step in applying for financial aid is to file your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Your FAFSA must be received by the federal processing center by April 15th each year to be considered for state financial aid as well as federal financial aid. USI's Federal School Code is 001808. You will need an FSA ID to electronically sign your FASFA. If you do not have an FSA ID, you may create one at fsaid.ed.gov.
Once you are admitted to the program and we receive your FAFSA, you can see the financial aid you qualify for and accept or decline your Direct Student Loan on your myUSI. Qualifications for our RN to BSN online program
The University of Southern Indiana's online RN to BSN program has specific requirements that applicants must meet to enroll. Please read the admission guidelines to ensure you qualify.
- Associate Degree or diploma in nursing
- Minimum 2.3 GPA in undergraduate coursework
- RN License unencumbered RN license
Applicants must meet the following criteria for admission to USI's online RN to BSN degree program:
- Associate degree or diploma in nursing from a nationally-accredited nursing program and a regionally-accredited college or university.
- Cumulative grade point average of 2.3 on a 4.0 scale in previous academic work. Students with a 2.0-2.29 GPA will be considered on an individual basis.
- Unencumbered RN license (No action or pending action against license)
- Completed USI RN to BSN Undergraduate Application
- Must reside in an approved state
- Employed by or have access to a health care work environment to complete course projects
- Non-native speakers of English must provide an official report confirming a TOEFL (iBT) score of 71, TOEFL (computerized) score of 197, or IELTS score of 6

Courses
Read about our RN to BSN online program
To complete the RN to BSN online program, you must complete 30 credits of core nursing courses and 18 credits of specified non-nursing support courses which directly support nursing practice. Non-nursing classes may be transferred in or taken at USI. The number of non-nursing support courses needed will be determined by a review of your transcripts and incorporated into an individualized plan of study.
Nursing students may transfer in credits earned at an accredited community college or four-year university. There is no limitation of credits that may transfer into USI.
A total of 120 credits is required for the BSN degree.
